Last year in April Microsoft communicated the updated system requirements for accessing Office365, this was done in published article: MC99202.
With this post we would like to remind you all on this change. This change will impact the ability of any organization connecting and accessing Office365 with the use of a desktop client (Windows and MAC included).
Services hosted in Office365 like Exchange Online, Skype for Business Online, SharePoint Online as well as the client applications for Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, and Skype for Business.
All clients accessing Office365 resources should be:
- Office clients to be in Mainstream Support
- Clients must be Office ProPlus clients
In October 2020, other clients, including Office 2016, will be blocked from connecting to Office 365 services
If your organization runs clients that will not be in mainstream support in 2020, or your organization has not yet deployed Office Pro Plus, now is the time to initiate proper action on this. With the above statement on blocking access will require organizations to take action on deployment as soon as possible.
